Apollo Sprayers present three HVLPsun™ Systems and two HVLPsun™ Mist Applicators. HVLPsun™ Tanning Systems serve the tanning industry with a full range of tanning opportunities, from mobile technicians spraying on site to the most exclusive salons, hotels, cruise ships and spas.
Superbly engineered, the HVLPsun™ Tanning Systems and Mist Applicators put perfect control in the technician’s hands. HVLPsun™ motors produce a high volume of air (CFM) at a very low pressure (PSI). Our Mist Applicators have all stainless steel fluid parts, to atomize the solution into tiny perfect particles in a precision controlled spray fan. Tanning solution is applied gently, in a fine layer, which maximizes skin and DHA adhesion for an absolutely flawless end result.
Apollo and HVLP Sun the perfect choice for your spray tanning needs.

Popular Woodworking and Apollo Sprayers, Int., are delighted to announce that Dr. Max Latham, of Bowie, Texas, won an Apollo 1040 Turbine and Atomizer Gun. Max answered the Apollo on line quiz in Popular Woodworking and his name was drawn from the thousands of correct answers. Max, a woodworker for over ten years, has always read Popular Woodworking. In his well-equipped 1,200 ft shop, Max has built many pieces of furniture including an entertainment center and kitchen cabinets. His next project is a bedroom set for his grandchild, so there’s no doubt the 1040VR will be put to good use!
Everyone at both Apollo and Popular Woodworking congratulate Max Latham. Below are photos of Max’s superb, curved kitchen, both completed and in progress.
We look forward to seeing photos of a beautifully crafted and finished bedroom set.

Everyone at Apollo Sprayers is interested in finding new uses for our sprayers. We know we can spray chocolate on cakes in a specialty cakes bakery. The bathtub resurfacing industry uses our sprayers. So do contemporary artists making huge abstract paintings.
Then a few years ago we were discovered by a whole, remarkable new industry, the UV Sunless spray tanning industry. Apollo’s ability to spray precisely and gently makes it the perfect tool for applying tanning solution on bare skin. A solution is softly sprayed on a client’s body and face. When the solution comes in contact with client’s skin, the client’s body produces a tan. Glance at a fashion or celebrity magazine and you will see that tan is the way to go.
After meeting with people in the industry and assessing their needs, the Apollo Sprayers engineers developed three machines that do the job. The machines are different than our industrial machines because the tanning solution is very thin and it doesn’t take much pressure to atomize. The machines are lightweight and portable. We can customize them to suit the salon or spa.
So if you come upon a bright pink sprayer in a salon or spa, chances are it’s an Apollo.

Bill Boxer, Sr. VP and COO of Apollo Sprayers, Int. is in demand as a speaker, and he likes to comply as often as his schedule allows. His expertise, of course, is HVLP sprayers and both waterbased and waterborne coatings.
On September 14, 2009 Bill attended the Evergreen Woodworking Guild, Seattle, WA monthly meeting. The topic for the evening was what’s new in modern finishing technology, HVLP and Waterbase Coatings? Then on September 17, 2009 Bill joined the North County Woodworkers, Escondido, CA, for their monthly meeting.
In Seattle Bill stressed the importance of selecting a turbine powerful enough to atomize the range of coatings the finisher might use. When selecting a coating it was noted how important it is to select a coating made specifically for your application. So if the finisher is brushing, choose a brushable product. If the finisher is using HVLP make sure the coating is formulated for HVLP.
In Escondido the discussion included information on the process of finishing. There is a relationship between air pressure and viscosity, and how equipment and coatings relate to create the perfect finish. Bill encourages all finishers to take the time to try a few brands of coatings. Make samples and then make decisions.
Bill was delighted to receive appreciation gifts from both groups. The woodworkers in Seattle gave him a beautiful plaque. And now Bill proudly has a gorgeous turned pen and case from Escondido. He also received kind words from Gordon Patnude, chair of the Evergreen Guild.
I was most impressed with your presentation on Monday evening at the September meeting of The Evergreen Woodworkers’ Guild. Your presentation was highly informative, entertaining, educational and done with a comfortable and sometimes humorous ease. Indeed, if I may say so, it was probably the best single presentation our members have seen in the 10 years of our existence.
If your club or guild is interested in a talk, please contact Bill at wboxer@hvlp.com

Apollo Turbine Sprayers and Conversion guns have always met the highest government standards regarding air pollution. You know that our equipment is 85 to 90 percent efficient, so the coating goes where the finisher wants it and not out in the air.
At Apollo Sprayers we try to be “green” in as many ways as we can. A good example is our packing material. We use InsulFoam®40. It is environmentally friendly, containing no formaldehyde or ozone depleting chemicals. Most important it is 100% recyclable.

We use InsulFoam®40 in two different forms. First we have custom shapes made to cushion and support the Apollo Turbines when they are boxed for shipping.
Then we buy the waste pieces left over from large jobs using InsulFoam®40. The pieces are cut into 3/4 inch cubes and they make a perfect packing peanuts. We like to think of the peanuts as “double recycling”.

Bill Boxer, COO of Apollo Sprayers, is in Seattle, Washington today. Bill was invited to an aircraft rebuilding and refurbishing company that also manufactures a water based coating to use on airplanes. The Apollo 1040VR performed excellently and the samples came out great. We are always excited to find new coatings and new applications for Apollo Sprayers.

Did you know that Apollo Sprayers uses marine grade stainless steel in our spray guns? Any place coating passes in an Apollo spray gun is marine grade stainless steel. This includes the needle, the nozzle, the pick up tube and all fluid passages.
The coatings world is rapidly changing as better and more environmentally safe products are coming on the market. We need to accommodate what might be the newest resins, and safer additives. A lesser grade of stainless steel might be subject to corrosion and at Apollo Sprayers we can not take a risk with a lower grade. Marine grade stainless steel is the only and safest way to go.
Another advantage in our award winning spray gun is that by using marine grade stainless steel, we ensure longevity. The needle and nozzle can wear down quickly with a lesser grade of stainless. We want our spray guns to serve our finishers for many years to come, regardless of which great new coatings come on the market. So don’t worry about your gun. Be adventurous and try the newest coatings. At Apollo we recommend Safecoat, beautiful, durable water based coating that sprays easily and gives you a perfect finish.
